Mrs Staton, Teddington
The client bought this house knowing they wanted to do something to the rear of the property on the ground floor. There were 2 separate, old conservatories on the back of the house which were freezing cold and a small, dated kitchen. We removed both conservatories, took out the back of the house and removed the kitchen and floor area. After fitting the steels, we could already see the open plan look the client was asking for. Being a huge fan of London Stocks (bricks) I suggested we used these internally as a feature wall. The client thought this was a great idea and went about planning her ‘mood lighting’ with help from me. Again all trades were used and we fitted a wide set of bi-folds opening up onto their garden (which we went back to to landscape) and maintained the same level onto a new patio area we built. With the client choosing the same tiles to go outside as inside (with a non-slip coating), it really brought the garden into the house with the doors opened up. We fitted the kitchen, laid the split level floor and decorated throughout paying special attention to the mood lighting the client was so keen on. The client also wanted a walk in dressing area connected to their bedroom so we knocked through from the master bedroom into another bedroom and turned it into a lovely dressing area with a wet room shower in the new en-suite. The finished build looked spectacular, so much so the client entered us into the Federation of Master Builders annual competition to find the renovation of the year. We won the London region award for our work and were apparently very close to winning the national award but were pipped by a stone cottage refurbishment in the west country. We were delighted with this award, which shows our high levels of work, attention to detail and managing the relationship with the client.
Having contacted 3 local builders in Teddington to quote on our groundfloor extension and remodelling upstairs, we could not have been more happy with our choice of builder. Not only was the quality of the work outstanding, they finished on time and marginally over budget!. I was at home with a young baby whilst the work was being carried out so it was important that I felt at ease with all the team and they were all very accomodating. In fact they were so good, I nominated them as builder of the year in the FMB Master Builder of the Year Awards. They have won their regional event, a massive accolade, with the national event in March. They are now coming back to makeover our garden!
